INGLEWOOD, CALIF.: AUGUST 12, 2018 – The cast of CW’s Riverdale accept the Choice Drama TV Show onstage during FOX’s Teen Choice Awards at The Forum on August 12, 2018 in Inglewood, California.
It was a busy weekend in Riverdale.
The hit CW show, which is filmed and around the Metro Vancouver area, snagged nine honours at Sunday’s 2018 Teen Choice Awards, including Choice Drama TV Show.
“There’s a lot of great shows so we feel really grateful to be up here. We started the show two years ago and I think we’re all kind of surprised about where the show’s gone and how it’s been accepted but the one massive thing to thank is you guys,” said star K.J. Apa, who stars as Archie Andrews, upon accepting the award with his cast mates.
“We couldn’t do this without you guys; thank you guys so much for watching this show. There’s a lot of bits and pieces that go into these things but you guys are the most important.”
The Teen Choice Awards are voted by viewers and famously honour its winners with a surf board instead of a statuette. The complete list of surf boards being toted back to the fictional town of Riverdale include:

Young Hiram Lodge cast for upcoming flashback episode
Just before the weekend started, a key casting was also announced for the show’s upcoming third season.
Prior to production starting up again, showrunner Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa had teased an upcoming episode that would flashback to the Riverdale parents in their youth, a type of Breakfast Club-style homage. Each of the parents would be played by their younger cohorts, save for Hiram Lodge.
On Friday, longtime television host Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos (who stars as Hiram on the show) congratulated their eldest son Michael, 21, on being cast as young Hiram.
“However @instasuelos and I would like to take this opportunity to remind you and your siblings that as your fiduciaries we are hereby entitled to 10 per cent of all future earnings hereo wit, or something like that,” Ripa joked on her Instagram post.
