Two B.C. women — one a blogger and the other a pilot — will take flight in the upcoming season of ABC’s The Bachelor, competing for pilot Peter Weber’s heart.

Mykenna Dorn of Langley and Alexis Thind of Whistler were both revealed Tuesday as contestants on the 24th season of the popular reality dating show, which begins filming this week in Los Angeles. The names were shared by blogger Steve Carbone of the spoiler-heavy Reality Steve blog .

Dorn is a professional blogger and influencer, with more than 40,000 followers on Instagram. A bio on her blog says she is a dancer, a “grape supporter” a West Coast girl, a Grey’s Anatomy superfan and a “single pringle.”

“I strive to create authentic content by sharing personal life experiences,” Dorn’s blog reads. “I have become particularly known for my humorous captions and unapologetic stories on my Instagram @mykennajean .”

Thind, 24, was profiled earlier this year by Whistler’s Pique Magazine about becoming a pilot in honour of her late father, who died of brain cancer in 2018 . Thind’s dad had previously flown with the Royal Canadian Air Force and Air Canada.

The Whistler resident told Pique how her father had built a makeshift flight simulator just weeks after his first brain surgery, “so he could teach (her) everything he knew.”

After being cleared to fly this past summer, Thind began working with Hope Air, a charity that provides free flights for patients living in remote communities with limited access to medical care.

Thind was also a competitive rower while attending the University of B.C.

Weber, 28, appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette and made the top three before being eliminated after overnight dates in Greece. Weber, a pilot for Delta Air Lines, quickly became a fan favourite and is slated to be announced as the next bachelor this week.
