The french version of the Hayao Miyazaki film Ponyo, produced by Studio Ghibli, is part of the tribute to Japanese films for young audiences in general and Miyazaki in particular at the Festival International du Film pour enfants de Montreal. Coming June 25, Netflix users will be able to watch Studio Ghibli films in Canada.

Starting June 25, Netflix is bringing 21 features from acclaimed Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli to its Canadian platform.

Among the classic films coming to the streaming powerhouse are the Academy Award-winning films Spirited Away , Princess Mononoke , Ponyo , Kiki’s Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro . This is the first-ever worldwide launch of Studio Ghibli content on a digital platform, according to GKIDS CEO Eric Beckman. NYC-based distributor GKIDS handles North American distribution for the Studio Ghibli library.

Founded in 1985 by Japanese animated film directors Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli’s features are celebrated for their whimsical storytelling, spectacular direction and distinctive visual styling. Not only is the studio a multiple Academy Award-nominee, but co-founder Miyazaki was named one of the world’s most influential people by TIME Magazine in 2005.

The first 20 titles from Studio Ghibli will be released on Netflix on June 25. The Wind Rises will be available on Aug. 1.
